Last weekend I went to Scottsdale for my bachelorette. I’m not sure where to begin because I had so much fun and my girls did an amazing job making the weekend the absolute best. It was 90 degrees in Scottsdale and it was the perfect weekend to get away from the Bay Area rain. I really couldn’t have asked for better weather and vibes in Scottsdale for my #FinalFlamingle.
Why Scottsdale? I got this question a few times and it made me think about what a bachelorette weekend entails. I was looking for a combination of everything. Somewhere new but not far. Somewhere sunny. Somewhere with good food. Somewhere with a great night scene. Somewhere nature-y. With the help of my friends, Scottsdale really sounded like the best choice and it sure was!
Friday
Check In at The Saguaro
This boutique hotel is thee perfect place to stay for a bachelorette party. I can’t seem to feel anything but happy and cheery whenever I’m coming back to the hotel. The exterior is painted in bright pink, blue, yellow, green and purple. The bright purple carpet makes walking around a hotel feel like no other hotel experience.
Also, LOCATION LOCATION. The Saguaro is located conveniently to everything. We rented a car but I don’t think a car is ncessary if you’re staying here. Lyft and Uber is available and fares should be decently priced. The airport was the farthest place from us and that was only a 15-minute drive. The hotel also has bikes so hop on and bike around Old Town.
My only complaint is it could use an upgrade. Some of the fixtures can be renovated so that it is more modern mid-century. They could get rid of the popcorn ceiling. I’d also appreciate it if they renovated and increased the room size just a tad bit.
Some of the girls and I hung out at the pool while the others got the bridal suite ready. I love the pool at The Saguaro. I love the yellow umbrellas, day beds and lounge chairs. It goes so well with the mood in Scottsdale. Once the bridal suite was ready, we went up. I was surprised with the cutest and most thoughtful bridal suite. If you didn’t already know, I am obsessed with skincare products. The girls put together skincare goody bags for party favors and hooked it up with even more skincare products!
For dinner, we walked into Old Town to see what was good then stopped by the Sugar Bowl for dessert.
Saturday
Desert Botanical Garden
There are some great hiking places in Scottsdale but I didn’t think anyone would be down to do a sunrise hike. I wanted to do something Arizona-y for some desert vibes. The Desert Botanical Garden is your one-stop for everything desert-y. Admission is $25. It has 140 aces of different trails and exhibits. There were so many pretty cacti, succulents, wildflowers and plants. There was a Spring Butterfly Exhibit that has a butterflies flying everywhere. We had to be careful not to step on any.
I also had to find the First Aid office. I got a little too close to a cactus when we were taking a group photo. One step back and there were so many cactus needles in my jeans! They were tiny, thin needles so it was hard to remove with your fingers. Everyone was trying to get them out but I could still feel the needles scraping against my skin. I was advised to take my pants off and use a credit card to push out the needles. It worked! Keeping my distance from cactus now haha.
Explore Old Town Scottsdale
Old Town Scottsdale is about a 7-minute walk from The Saguaro. Old Town is a district that is filled with souvenir shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants so there’s a lot of walking to do. The girls and I explored Old Town during the day. We got coffee at Cartel Coffee Lab. The coffee here is good! I got an almond milk vanilla latte and loved it. We walked down and checked out Leela and Carmen. Both of them are women’s boutiques that sell cute accessories, home goods and clothes. When I walked into Leela, it smelled just like walking into Anthropologie.
Dinner at Mastro’s
I had such a great time and meal at Mastro’s. I love that they have live music so it’s very entertaining and really great place to bring a date. I ordered the bone-in filet since that is their most popular dish. SO DELICIOUS. I’m sad that they don’t have a location in the Bay Area. The girls surprised me with a gift and dessert. I was so full from dinner I was not craving dessert. Then I tried their signature Warm Butter Cake. First of all, I don’t like buttery desserts so I just took a bite to try. Then I took several bites because it was soooo good. It was warm, fluffy, moist and paired so well with the vanilla ice cream and strawberries. YUM! This is the best picture I was able to get from dinner because the lighting is really bad.
Lobster Mashed Potatoes, Bone-in Filet and Green Beans with Toasted Almonds
I had such a fun time in Scottsdale. It was a great time to connect with some important people in my life, explore a new city and not think about the wedding. While a bachelorette party could be all about partying, it’s a really good time to think nothing but the present. I’m so grateful for my friends who planned such a thoughtful and chic bachelorette party.
