I got engaged to my best friend on April 29, 2017. I can’t believe I’ve been engaged for almost 6 months! Time flies. Each time I look back on the proposal, I still get butterflies and feel so grateful. I’ve been meaning to share the proposal and my wedding planning experience so here is my first post!
Ronson and I were celebrating my birthday that weekend so we went hiking in Redwood City to catch the wildflower super bloom. I remember that day pretty well. It was such a beautiful day with clear, blue skies and lots of sunshine. I forget the trail name, but we hiked up enough so that you could see the horizon. Off to the side you can see the hills and a bit of 680 North. At some point, I noticed Ronson was no longer walking beside me. I figured he was stopping for a water break or snapping a photo of me (what a great IG husband!) so I continued walking. Few moments later Ronson says, “Babe turn around” so I knew this guy must be taking a photo of me. I was wrong!!! Ronson was on one knee, ring in one hand and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!
Ronson did such a great job surprising me. I was so impressed because he is really, really bad at keeping surprises. I always joked with him that he’d somehow give it away whenever the time came. He fooled me! I met Ronson in high school and we became good friends. I let him copy my French homework and helped him ask his date out to senior prom haha. I moved to LA for college and Ronson went to SJSU. We didn’t keep in touch when I moved so we naturally drifted. I graduated in 2012 and got a job back in the Bay Area. This is when I crossed paths again with Ronson. We bumped into each other at the gym, reconnected and here we are. From the beginning of our friendship, Ronson was always smiling, making others laugh and such a positive person. I know all his friends and family can say the same. We’ve been together for 4 years now and I’m so lucky to see how much he’s grown. I’m so grateful to have him as my fiancé, best friend, biggest supporter, travel buddy and father to our future children. I can’t wait until our wedding day!
