I know skincare can be overwhelming. There are so many brands and products. How do I build a skincare routine? Where do I start?
Today I am sharing the basic steps to start taking care of your skin. You don’t need to follow the 10-step skincare routine or need to spend a lot of money to take care of your skin. Here are the 3 steps I highly recommend.
1.Cleanse
Why is washing your face important?
Cleansing your face removes makeup, oil, dirt and debris. Even if you’re not wearing makeup, cleansing removes other skincare products, or other things your skin comes in contact with such as oil, pollutants and dead skin cells. Now imagine if you did not wash your face regularly. The amount of oil, dirt, pollutants and dead skin cells would be piling up on your skin! Yuck, right?
Cleansing regularly and properly will help with break outs, clogged pores and improve skin texture. I highly recommend getting into the habit of washing your face regularly.

2. Moisturize
Like cleansing, moisturizing is equally important. Moisturizer will help lock in moisture and keep your skin protected. I have combination skin and find that thick creams work best in the winter and gel moisturizers are hydrating enough in the summer.

3. SPF
Wear. SPF. Every. Day.
SPF isn’t just for the beach. SPF is for the every day and year round. Good news is that there are many SPF options that do not leave you feeling greasy, oily or leave behind any white cast.
When it comes to SPF, it’s all about protection and prevention. Applying SPF every day is protecting your skin from the harmful effects of UV rays. Regularly wearing SPF will protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Yes—there are 2 different types that you should be aware of!
-
UVB (sunburn) rays: Causes sunburns at the superficial layer of the skin.
-
UVA (aging) rays: Unlike UVB rays, UVA penetrates deeper than the surface of your skin! These are the rays can cause signs of aging like discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, etc.) and even skin cancer.
